WDP 081: E3 & The Morning after Pill

I get all excited and rant and rave about the cancelling of E3... then I go crazy over that crazy Elizabeth Hasselback from the View.

hey walrus. just wanted to leave a quick comment about this episode of your show.

personally, i dont see the videogame industry becoming obsolete or kaput. just as the movie industry has been around for ages, just like the music industry has been around for ages, i believe the vg industry is gonna be around for quite some time. why? because people will always have a need for entertainment. sure a lot of the stuff is rehashed (in any of the aforementioned industries), but there are enough differences and enough exceptions to the rule (of being mediocre) that people will keep supporting these industries.

i especially disagreed with your comment about everything being the same. it was quite the understatement as you can say anything is the same as anything. gourmet food vs mcdonalds is the same because they're food. football is same as basketball because they are both sports that use a ball. if you look at things in their most basic forms, yeah they'll appear to be the same thing. the details are what make anything worthwhile.

a hot girl vs a not-so-hot girl. they're the same thing because they're a girl. u can say that too but obviously that can't hold up in most people's opinions.

anyways i guess this wasn't as short as i thought it'd be. i respect ur opinions and you're entitled to them. but i had to disagree on that point.

oh and another thing. innovation is great but isn't very easily welcomed. like it or not, there are so many things that people will support just because of the name. that's why sequels to movies do well. that's why new artists have a harder time selling albums than many established artists. that's why even though the PS3 is overpriced and it's going to suck (opinion), it's still going to sell. because people like their brand names.

is it sad? yes. innovation gets shut out while lame rehashes get large sales aka cashcows. because of that, people are less likely to take a risk and innovate hence creating cashcows.

i don't know. there's my comment.
